Findel given Special Recognition award for ESG Excellence by the BVCA

October 2022

The British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) has awarded Findel Education special recognition as a portfolio company of Endless for our excellence in our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) actions.

The ‘Excellence in ESG’ award is in its third year and celebrates firms from across the private capital ecosystem that have made an outstanding commitment to ESG principles. The judging criteria for the award included how ESG is considered within Findel’s day-to-day commercial activities and evidence of Findel seeking to minimise negative ESG impacts or examples of positive impacts on the environment, workplace, marketplace and/or community (or both). Other recipients of the award included Williams Advanced Engineering and Bright Data.

Findel’s ESG commitments included becoming carbon neutral by 2030, reducing single-use plastics, creating a culture of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, supporting and inspiring our local community and customers, and improving sustainability across the supply chain.

The judges recognised that these commitments are already underway as firstly, at the beginning of the year, we were awarded an £18m sustainability loan from Santander to help our environmental pledges happen, and we have joined onto several initiatives to report on our actions as we progress in our sustainability journey. This includes the Science Based Targets initiative, which lays out a pathway to get carbon emissions down to 1.5°C in accordance with the Paris Agreement. In addition, we have been recognized as supporters of the Terra Carta, which is part of the Sustainable Markets initiative. We are the first in our industry to join these initiatives and be awarded the sustainability loan.

Findel won the award as a portfolio company of private equity firm Endless, which supported a management buy-out in April 2021. Endless is a member of the BVCA, which acts as the industry body and public policy advocate for the private equity and venture capital industry in the UK.
