Findel launches the Findel Foundation
November 2022
On Tuesday 29th of November, Findel hosted launches in both Hyde and Nottingham to celebrate the official announcement of the Findel Foundation, which is a long-term initiative to provide ongoing support to a range of children’s education, wellbeing and environmental causes throughout the UK.
The Foundation’s ambition is to give back more than £200,000 per year and has started by making volunteering support, donations and funding available of £100,000 in the next 12 months.
The Foundation comprises of six pillars, which are, ‘charities, ‘breakfast clubs’, ‘Findel Forest’, ’volunteering’, ‘careers’ and ‘leading positive change’. This will involve fundraising for a nominated annual charity, sponsoring breakfast clubs across the UK donating to multiple reforestation and conservation projects, encouraging volunteering among our colleagues, and advising schools and nurseries on how to become more sustainable. As well as the physical launch, The Findel Foundation webpage was launched where you can read about each of the six pillars in more detail as well as our progress with them so far.
On the day, we had a special guest speaker, Charlotte Hardy, Head Teacher of The Place Independent School in Nottingham where a team from Findel volunteered recently, as well as a talk from our partners Ecologi.
Commenting on the launch of the Findel Foundation, Chris Mahady, Findel’s CEO said: “As a business that cares, we are totally committed to doing good things for education, the environment, the community and each other.
“We have created the Findel Foundation to lead positive change in the educational supplies sector. It is solely focused on positively impacting children and their education because that’s what motivates and inspires our people and customers every day.
“The Foundation and its six pillars are an important part of our environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy. Our Foundation team have done an extraordinary job taking it from concept to reality and we are excited to now launch and start delivering against our ambitions for it.”
Claire Woolley, who is the head of The Findel Foundation, said: “Today marked a very special day for the Findel family, which I’m absolutely delighted to be a part of. Our aim is to help support the wider levelling up programme, focus our efforts on areas of concern like children’s mental health and social need. It’s an incredibly exciting time to be part of Findel and play a part in growing education for generations.”
